Porcupine Mountains #4 In Nation For State Park

Michigan’s Upper Peninsula has gained national recognition in the USA Today 10Best poll for best state parks, with the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park securing the No. 4 spot. Known as the "Porkies," this stunning park features 60,000 acres of lakes, rivers, and virgin forests. The top three parks included Letchworth State Park (NY) at No. 1, Blue Spring State Park (FL) at No. 2, and Gooseberry Falls State Park (MN) at No. 3. After finishing second in 2015, the Porkies campaigned vigorously for a higher ranking. Park manager Mike Knack expressed gratitude for the park's dedicated supporters. The Porkies also won the State Park Madness bracket by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources this year. With camping by Lake Superior, 90 miles of hiking trails, and seasonal kayak rentals, the Porkies truly offer an outdoor enthusiast's paradise.
Grand Haven Musical Fountain Summer Highlights
Signs of summer are emerging along the Lakeshore, highlighted by the iconic Musical Fountain in Grand Haven, which launches its summer schedule on May 23 at 10 p.m. This year’s debut features an all-new music lineup. The fountain performs nightly from Memorial Day to Labor Day, offering themed shows that include boy bands, country, and Motown music. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to Lynne Sherwood Waterfront Stadium to enjoy the free 30-minute performances, where lights and music are perfectly synchronized. The summer schedule includes special events like patriotic playlists, love songs for date nights, "Christmas in July," and a "Name That Tune" variety show. Notable dates include Country Night on May 31, Taylor Swift on June 7, and a Fourth of July Fireworks show on July 4. This beloved tradition attracts both locals and tourists, making it a highlight of the season.
Muskegon Lumberjacks Win First Clark Cup Title

Overtime playoff hockey is one of the most thrilling experiences in sports, especially during elimination games. Muskegon Lumberjacks fans experienced this excitement firsthand on Tuesday when Jack Christ scored an overtime goal just six minutes into the extra period of Game 5 against the Waterloo Black Hawks, securing a 4-3 victory and the USHL Clark Cup Championship for Muskegon.Christ's historic goal completed a hat trick for the Chaska, Minn. native, who initially put Muskegon ahead 2-0 after 14 minutes in the first period, following a goal from teammate Tynan Lawrence. Waterloo fought back with two goals from Brendan McMorrow and Reid Morich in the second period, tying the game at 2. However, Christ quickly restored Muskegon's lead with another goal less than two minutes into the third period, setting the stage for his game-winning shot in overtime.CopyRegenerateLikeDislike

Harbor Shores To Open “Wee Course”
Harbor Shores Resort, home to one of Michigan's three Jack Nicklaus Signature Courses, is set to introduce a new nine-hole “Wee Course” designed to attract a younger generation of golfers. Scheduled to break ground soon, the course will feature holes measuring 60 yards or less, focusing on youth programming with free play for kids. Designed by Hall of Fame golfer Colin Montgomerie, the course aims to accommodate families and beginner golfers while also being suitable for serious players to practice their short game. Additionally, a new 18-hole putting course will enhance the community experience with lighting, music, and dining options. This initiative is supported by donations from Corewell Health and the Whirlpool Foundation, promoting accessibility to golf for all.
