Farmers’ Almanac Michigan Winter Predictions

The Farmers’ Almanac has released its Winter 2025 Extended Weather Forecast, predicting an active season nationwide. The forecast includes a "Wet Winter Whirlwind," with expectations of a cool and wet winter due to a La Nina pattern. The northern plains and Great Lakes region are anticipated to experience the coldest temperatures, with significant lake effect snow possible when cold air moves over warmer Great Lakes. Michigan is projected to receive above-average precipitation, potentially resulting in heavy snow or rain, depending on storm tracks. The East Coast and New England regions are also expected to have an active winter, while a warmer winter is predicted for the southern half of the country.

Surf’s Up In Muskegon

The 6th annual Great Lakes Surf Festival took place at Pere Marquette Beach, attracting surfers of all skill levels to Lake Michigan. Co-founder Joe Bidawid emphasized the event's role in celebrating Great Lakes surf culture and supporting the community. More than 100 volunteers and 40 vendors participated, while attendees explored surfing lessons and yoga. The festival auctioned 40 surfboards, with proceeds benefiting the Lighthouse Restoration Project in Muskegon. Due to strong winds creating larger waves (four-to-six feet), only intermediate and advanced surfers were permitted in the water, with swimming restricted for safety reasons. More information about the Great Lakes Surf Festival and future events can be found on their website.
