THE DIGEST
Chicago To Mackinac Sailing Race Record

The 115th Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac saw favorable weather conditions leading to a record-breaking win by the Maverick crew. The boat completed the 333-mile race in 22 hours, 24 minutes, 23 seconds, beating Roy P. Disney's 22-year-old record. The race featured nearly 250 boats and is known as America's Offshore Challenge. The secret to the fast times this weekend was attributed to southerly wind direction and advancements in boats and sails. The Maverick crew, led by Sanford Burris, celebrated briefly at the finish line before continuing on to compete in the "Super Mac" race.
Proposal For Electric Bike Discounts In Michigan
Michigan state budget includes nearly $3 million for e-bike purchase discounts. Proposed program would offer $300 discounts to all residents 18 and older, and $600 discounts to lower-income individuals. E-bikes seen as a greener mode of transportation that could replace car trips. Program still awaiting approval from Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and full Legislature vote. Other states have similar e-bike incentives. Local-level incentives also available in Michigan. Discount program aims to support local businesses and encourage e-bike use for transportation.

Crepes By The Lakes

Stephanie Lenhart, a Chicago native, opened Crepes by the Lakes food truck at the Bank Street Farmers Market in Kalamazoo in 2014. The business offers sweet and savory crepes inspired by Parisian street food. Lenhart's childhood travels and culinary school experience influenced her decision to bring this unique food option to Michigan. Crepes by the Lakes has become popular in West Michigan, with locations in Muskegon, Spring Lake, Holland, and Grand Rapids. The menu includes a variety of crepes, with The Cuban and Nutella and strawberry being customer favorites. Prices range from $9 to $14. Lenhart is proud to have introduced more people to the delicious taste of Parisian desserts through her food truck. Stay up to date with the food truck’s location by visiting their website here.
